I’ve just re-surfaced after a week of intense nervous excitement from rehearsals in Aldeburgh that led up to the first night of ‘The Drummer Boy of Waterloo’ our opera that premiered at Jubilee Hall last weekend. That is the same hall that Benjamin Britten premiered his work..... so no pressure then.
Details about the upcoming premiere of my opera ‘The Drummer Boy of Waterloo’ can be seen here on the Classical Source website’....
It was so great to be in the audience at the Festival Hall this week for Steve Earles new tour with The Dukes. He was on fine form and he played a really generous set of around thirty songs, many of them from his new Blues album 'Terraplane'.
In three weeks our show ‘The Drummer Boy of Waterloo’ premieres in Aldeburgh with Jubilee Opera, at the Jubilee Hall and I have to say I am beginning to feel very excited...
Its actually the weekend of November 7th and 8th.
It was at one of the many social gatherings at BASCA (the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors), when David Stoll was Chairman of the Classical and Jazz Executive and I was sitting on the Songwriters Executive, that we decided we really ‘must write a song together’.
