When Lynsey De Paul abruptly left the planet in October last year, it seemed all too soon. She was so vivacious and ‘alive’.... a real Gemini. How could this energetic bubbly person have died so suddenly.

I’d known Lynsey her for years and we shared many a laugh as we sat next to each other on the PRS Members Benevolent fund committee frequently being scowled at for talking and laughing. Lynsey’s passion for helping others often overflowed to being quite loud and passionate and I’m not actually known for being a shrinking violet myself. Between that and her other passion for ‘cats’ that I also shared, it’s a wonder we got any work done.

Of course it wasn’t just me who experienced her warm personality and kindness so on 9th Sept this week there was a special dinner to Celebrate her Life and to launch ‘The Lynsey de Paul ‘ Prize in her memory....to help launch the career of a new young singer songwriter ‘ Emma McGrath. We heard her sing and Lynsey would have loved her. She would also have been moved to know this whole event was instigated in the first instance by one of her ‘Hampster’ chums Esther Ranzen who has been attending several meetings with us on the Members Fund and PRS Foundation to make it happen....and it did.

It was brilliant...but we still miss Lynsey...
